Novoe Evreyskoe Slovo
(
The New Jewish Word
)
The concept design of this publication was accepted to production in February 2002.
The customer is the 'Russian Germany/Russian Berlin' Publishing House.

The requirements to this design were demanding enough .
This 32-pages weekly (monthly at first) was meant for the Russian-speaking Jews living in Germany.
The founders understood that the majority of its readers will be older people,
which dictated a relatively conservative design. Another challenge
concerned the master heading. It could not contain Jewish symbols but at the same time
convey the Jewish nature of this publication.
I came up with an idea to use the shape of the Israeli flag in the master header and "Hebrew-looking" Russian fonts in the titles.
